Sheriff Quek

-

Sheriff Quek is a Research Coordinator at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. He graduated Biomedical Science with Honors from the renowned National University of Singapore.

Sheriff has a deep interest in healthcare and community growth. He has done multiple attachments and volunteering stints across local hospitals, and has served Singapore Red Cross through their disaster surveillance and deployment missions. Among his projects was an Overseas Humanitarian Program to Batam, Indonesia, where he worked with youths from across Indonesia to carry out local capacity building.

It is this same interest that led him to join Cahaya Community. He greatly enjoys guiding children and youths in their academics and character development. He also proactively get to know their families and neighborhood better - he firmly holds to the idea that it takes a village to raise a child. Despite being newer to the team, he quickly adapted to the rigor, supporting not just the children but also fellow volunteers. They look up to him for his calming presence and caring leadership. It is only natural then that he leads mentorship sessions as our Head Mentor! We greatly benefit from his insightful perspectives on the students’ learning experience.

In his personal time, Sheriff shines as the avid sportsperson he is. He had previously represented NUS in Ultimate Frisbee, with championships under his belt. Now, he sustains his streak of excellence in Malaysia, Taiwan, and Manila.

We at Cahaya Community are humbled to have Sheriff with us. We will continue to train him in sports so that he can shine in even more countries!
