Ya, its Cahaya! - Plaint a Pot
We're excited to have had kickstarted Ya, its Cahaya! A program that our mentors are currently spearheading. This is aimed at encouraging families to have better relations through learning about good family values as they spend time together through activities organized.
In this very first session titled 'Plaint a Pot', we engaged 3 families and got them to design plant pots that they could display and grow right outside their houses. Our mentors took the chance to not only bond with our families but also to teach our kids responsibility and ownership. Those involved sure developed green fingers after this...literally because of all the painting that was done!
Here’s what Alison had to say about her experience!
Volunteering for Ya it’s Cahaya has been a really fulfilling experience. Our pilot activity was pot-painting, and it was heartwarming to see families bond over activities that we planned! Ya it’s cahaya has also allowed me to better understand the experiences of the underserved through our close interactions with various families. Over stories shared around tables and amidst paint-covered hands, I found myself learning about the personal trials and victories these families faced. Ya it’s Cahaya is truly a platform to connect with the hearts of the underserved. Come volunteer with us!
All of us were really impressed by the amount of creativity present and we can't wait for the next session to start. Stay tuned for more updates.
